Paths for all- humans of the walk

It seems an age since I posted any content on this website/blog/journal. I hope everyone and their families are well, and life is as good as it can be throughout the crazy times we are living through. 2020 eh?

With no weddings to shoot, I’ve still been out and about with the cameras a fair bit, picking up some other types of photography work, one of which I thought I’d share below. Plus, if you make it to the bottom, there’s a competition to win £200 of walking goodies!

More to follow!

A month or so back I was contacted via Instagram by Anna at the Scottish charity  Paths for All,  to get involved in their new campaign ‘Humans of the Walk’, which was inspired by the famous ‘Humans of New York’ movement online and in social media.

Paths for All is a Scottish Charity with the aim to improve mental, physical and social health in Scotland through activities like walking, cycling and various others.

From their website (they can explain it better than old Muzza here)

We want to get Scotland walking. Everyone. Everyday. Everywhere.’

  • We will help everyone to be active for improved physical, mental and social health.

  • We encourage physical activity with a particular focus on everyday walking.

  • We work to improve environments so that people can be active everywhere.

  • We work passionately, together with our partners, funders, networks and volunteers to make our vision of a happier, healthier Scotland a reality.

Doesn’t that sound amazing? I was so chuffed to be asked to help, and to photograph the people chosen as the ‘Humans of the Walk’ for the media campaign.

So- my brief was to go and photograph some really, really cool people who have been kind enough to share their lockdown walking stories to show the impact that something as simple as walking can have through something like Covid 19, with a wide range of benefits including  helping manage stress and anxiety, as a break from home working, or home schooling, or as a way to spend enjoyable time with friends or family.

I met up with:

  • Jenni and her family from Gourock

  • Lana and her family from Greenock

  • Terry from Paisley

I absolutely loved working on this- It was so nice to meet people with such a positive outlook on getting through the Pandemic.

The images have been featured in the Sunday Times, and online at the Paths for All Website, and will be about more over the coming weeks

Huge thanks to Anna and the Paths for All team, and to Jenni, Lana, Terry and their families (and dogs!) for being so welcoming to the guy with the camera who turned up on their doorsteps!

Fancy winning £200 worth of walking goodies?

Head
here and get involved! Get out for a walk!

For the photo geeks- everything shot with Fujifilm cameras- the GFX50R, X100V and X-T3.
